Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month: Our February Picks

Even though spring is still over a month away, February always makes us feel like we’re getting close. Maybe it’s because Dry January is over, hearts are popping up everywhere you look as Valentine’s Day approaches, and it’s a short month (although one day longer this year, thanks to 2024 being a Leap Year). No matter whether you wish winter would never end, or can’t wait for spring, we’ve got the perfect selections for you to enjoy this month.

February Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month

Orono Brewing’s Slam Dunkel is a 5% ABV Dunkel Lager that has a very malt-forward flavor, is  brewed with dark malts from both Germany and Maine, and pairs nicely with winter. Four packs are available for $13.99, and singles for $4.50 if you just want one can (or have commitment issues).

When we think about Valentine’s Day, (or any day, really) our thoughts turn to red wine. This month’s special is Andeluna Raices Malbec 2022. This Argentinian wine is bright red in color, with violet hues, and possesses floral, fresh, and fruity aromas. The soft, well-integrated tannins imbue the wine with an elegant, long finish. Bottles are only $10.99.

The classic Grey Goose Vodka is our liquor of the month, and available for $24.99 for a 750mL bottle. This smooth-drinking vodka is made with a selection of the very best ingredients from France, including French wheat. Be sure to check out one of our favorite Grey Goose cocktail recipes below.

French Martini Cocktail

While the French Martini Cocktail isn’t technically a martini cocktail, since it’s often served in a martini cocktail glass we like to think of it as one. The “French” component comes from the French-made vodka, as well as the Chambord, a black raspberry liqueur that’s been manufactured in France since 1685.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz Grey Goose Vodka
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz Chambord
  • Raspberries to garnish

Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker, shake for 20 seconds, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with raspberries.
