Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month: Our May Picks

May in Maine brings a welcome shift, with longer days and more chances to get outside again. After a long winter, people are starting to emerge from hibernation mode, whether that means backyard get-togethers, celebrating big milestones, or just enjoying a drink on the porch with friends.

It’s also the season of celebrations. From college graduations to Memorial Day gatherings, May is full of reasons to raise a glass. Whether you’re stocking up for a graduation party, bringing a bottle to share at dinner, or just refreshing your liquor lineup for warmer days ahead, RSVP has the perfect picks to help you welcome the season.

This month we’re featuring a very berry beer from Sebago Brewing, a Portuguese red blend wine, and a low-ABV liqueur with a unique blend of fruity flavors and tea.

May Beer, Wine, and Liquor of the Month

Our May Beer of the Month is Sebago Brewing’s Maine Blueberry. Brewed with blueberries from Wyman’s of Maine, this 5.1% ABV Pale Ale delivers a crisp burst of Maine blueberry and features a blend of hops that are notable for their berry-like aroma and flavors. It hits the perfect spot between berries and beer. 6-packs of 12 oz cans are available for $11.99 and 12-packs are only $17.99, a wicked good bahgin, (or bargain, if you’re from away).

Ciconia Red Blend is our May Wine of the Month. It has a ruby hue with violet hints, and the intense aroma of red and black forest fruits harmoniously combine with plum, raspberry, mocha and spice. This Portuguese red blend features smooth tannins, a nice acidity, and juicy and fruity flavors. Bottles are only $8.99 each.

Our May Liquor of the Month is Rockey’s Botanical Liqueur. This Brooklyn-made, 12% ABV liqueur was inspired by classic clarified milk punch. It’s low-sugar and low-alcohol, and features a natural blend of green apple, pineapple, green tea, black tea, and citrus. Highly versatile, Rockey’s Botanical Liqueur is ideal for sipping over ice or as the secret ingredient in your favorite cocktails. Bottles are available for $21.49.

Cocktail of the Month 

Botanical Orchard 

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Rockey’s Botanical Liqueur
  • 1 oz vodka 
  • 1 oz pear juice or pear nectar
  • 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 oz honey syrup
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters

Instructions:

Add the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds.

Strain into a chilled coupe glass, garnish with a thin pear slice or rosemary sprig, and serve.

Botanical Orchard is shaken, juicy, and slightly unexpected.
